Update for 2019
St George’s Medical Practice would like to thank you all for the many suggestions for improvements of the practice. Below is a summary of the recurring suggestions. If you made a suggestion which has not being summarised below and you wish to discuss any concerns or comments you may have, please contact us at your earliest convenience.
The overall response of the survey indicates the majority of our patients are happy with the service we provide as a practice, and feel lucky to have a well-run, high quality, helpful service with only minor suggestions for improvements.
No privacy at reception
We are aware that there is little privacy in the reception area. With us currently being on the temporary site it is difficult to make changes here, but this is something we are looking into when planning the new permanent site for the practice. In the meantime, we do have an interview room next door to the reception area if any patient would like to discuss anything in private with the receptionist.
More evening appointments
We currently have a late evening surgery available to patients on Thursday’s. We have both GP and Nurse appointments available. Patients can also attend our extended hours’ service on evenings and weekends. To book appointments please speak to our receptionists, call NHS 111, or visit our website for more information. We are in the process of looking at our appointment system so our evening appointments may improve and become more accessible in the future.
Transport to the surgery
We now have a bus route running every hour which stops outside of the surgery. Please visit our website or the Arriva Bus website for more information on timetables and bus routes.
Automatic doors into the practice
As with the concern of having little privacy in the reception area, having automatic doors in the temporary building is also something we cannot change at this time. But we do plan to have automatic doors in our new building when we move from the temporary site in the next few years.
E-Consultations for children
E-consultations within the practice are available for patients aged 18 and over. This is our practice policy and is for the safety and best interest of our younger patients. We try to accommodate patients the best we can, with appointments starting in the morning at 8:30am, as well as late evening appointments on Thursdays. Patients can also attend our extended hours’ service on evenings and weekends. For more information please visit our website.
One problem per consultation
This is our practice policy as our Clinicians have only 10 minutes per patient to discuss the medical problem. One problem per consultation ensures our Clinicians can be thorough and are able to solve the individual problem the best they can in the small time frame that they have.
